How Much You’re Worth Will Surprise You – Maybe It’s Time to Get Some Insurance

First of all, you’re priceless. A work of art, completely unique and special. And I mean that.

But what about your parts? That priceless “YOU” isn’t the sum of your parts. It’s the aggregate combination of your physical characteristics, your personality, upbringing, willpower, spiritual development, etc. We’re just going to be focusing on the physical aspect of things.

This article does a great job of breaking down how much you’re worth based on the black market demand for your organs. A kidney is the most valuable at $262,000 EACH. So you’re looking at more than half a million in kidneys alone.

Liver is $157k – Heart is $119k – Small intestine is $2.5k – Both eyeballs would get you $1.5k – Coronary artery is another $1.5k – Gallbladder is $1.2k – Your skull with the teeth intact is $1.2k – Your scalp would be $600 – Your spleen $500 – Your stomach is $500 – Each arm is worth about $385 – For each pint of blood you can get $337 (people have about 10 pints in them on average, so $3.4k total) – And for your skin you can get $10 per square inch (which for most people would get them about $30k.

Add it all up and you’re worth about $850k in parts.

At first glance, it’s like… “That’s it???” But think about this: what do you own that’s worth $850k? Some of you might get close if you count your house, but do you really own that, or does the bank? Usually, it’s only the world’s elite – the “1 percenters” – who might own any one single thing worth $850k.

And if any of you do own anything even remotely close to $850k in value, what’s the first thing you do with it? That’s right, get insurance! In fact, if it’s a house or a car, the government makes you get insurance because they can’t have a country full of unsecured liabilities on every road or street corner. Makes sense.

I did a bit of digging and found that the average amount spent on car insurance in the U.S. is just over $900 per year. And the average amount spent per year on homeowners insurance is $952.

Let’s do a bit of comparison. Now keep in mind, markets change on a dime, so reliable figures can be hard to come by, but in January of 2017, the average sale price of homes sold in the U.S. was just over $189,000. And the average cost of a used car in the U.S. in August 2015 was $18,800.

So if you do the math (comparing all averages of course), the percentage you pay in auto insurance is going to be roughly 4.7% of its value every year. And the percentage you pay in homeowners insurance is going to be roughly 0.5% of its value every year.

And again, neither of these items even come CLOSE to the value of your body – $850,000. Even if we used homeowners insurance as a baseline (the much smaller figure), if you spent 0.5% of your body’s value every year in some sort of insurance, that would cost you $42,500 every year.

Hey, we regularly spend that much in repairs here in the U.S. where a knee replacement can cost you $46,000, an angioplasty can run as high as $144,000, or a hysterectomy gets as high as $83,000.

But here’s the great news, the silver lining, the information that’s going to turn it all around for you. You can get human body insurance for A LOT less than $42,000.

For a full careplan at a Maximized Living clinic, which includes chiropractic care and 5 Essentials coaching (mind, nutrition, spirit, spine and exercise), the average across all clinics is about $2500 per year.

Want to talk percentages? That equates to 0.02% of the value of your body in insurance every year. Much better rates than homeowners insurance and WAY better than car insurance.

And it gets cheaper over time if you take what you learn and apply it yourself. You might always need a good chiropractor just to keep up on spinal maintenance. But that’s going to be much less than $2500/year once everything is where it should be. If you pay attention and practice discipline, the other four essentials you can do yourself. It really is our goal to make you your own doctor.

I realize there were a lot of numbers and percentages in this post. Some people love it, some people run for the hills. For those of you currently in the hills, let me give you the rundown…

  • Your body is extremely valuable, just in terms of the actual market value of your individual organs.
  • Most of us don’t own anything remotely close to the monetary value of our money.
  • Even for houses and cars (most people’s most valuable possessions) we get insurance.
  • What about body insurance?
  • For a careplan with us, the cost of insuring your body is MUCH, MUCH less than house or car insurance when compared to the value of your body.
  • Insure your body. It’s the most valuable thing you have.
