Your Heart IS a Brain

In honor of heart health month coming up in February, there are some interesting things you need to know about how the heart works, that may challenge your traditional perception of its function.

One of the most important features of the heart is that is serves as a higher nervous system control center for your body, in other words it is part of your brain! To prove this point, did you know that the heart sends more signals to the brain than the brain sends to the heart? And guess through which nerve…. The Vagus nerve of course! Instead of the brain telling the heart what to do, the heart sends an overload of signals to tell the brain exactly what it needs to keep your body functioning.

The primary function of the heart is to pump oxygenated blood throughout your body to all of your cells. There are many steps beyond the walls of your heart to ensure that this process happens successfully, and your heart plays a HUGE role in that. When a problem with the oxygen delivery process occurs, your heart is the primary organ to correct that problem.

Your heart produces a hormone, Atrial Naturetic Peptide (ANP) to help regulate blood pressure and oxygen flow throughout your body. ANP is your bodes natural BP medication. So why are so many of you reading this on BP meds or they have been recommended by your MD? The answer is because your ANP is not doing its job. Your heart cannot produce the right hormone to balance your bodies oxygen.

Why can the heart not do its job? The vagus nerve is not sending signals to the brain to keep your body informed on what is going on. The vagus nerve is subluxated. As a result, your body has no choice but to send out the alarm bells and raise your blood pressure in other, less advantageous ways.

To wrap this up, how can you ensure that you have the right hormone function from your heart? Get your spine checked for subluxation. If this becomes a repeatable issue in your life, check for toxins that interrupt the hearts functionality like certain heavy metals.

When the Heavy Metals Just Won’t go Away

Two heavy metals that can wreak havoc on your heart are Mercury and Cadmium. Research has linked mercury and cadmium to high BP, vagal nervous system dysautonomia (loss of signal control – what was mentioned above), heart rhythm issues, coronary heart disease (its not cholesterol that’s the problem, folks), and heart attacks.

Most mercury has been eliminated from our diets and the environment, but surprisingly it still exists in quantities that might scare you! Specifically, recent studies have shown that ALL companies that manufacture organic, fair-trade dark chocolate have some levels of mercury and cadmium in them , in varying quantities. Some levels were more than 2x the recommended maximum exposure limit!

This may apply less to you, but it’s important to note that ALL USA made breast milk formulas were also found to contain heavy metals, including aluminum, mercury, and lead! If you are in the market for formula, look to get European based brands that pass much higher standards before they are sold to you.

Still unsure if a heavy metal toxicity could be the reason you heart cannot work perfectly? Get a hair test added to your care today and act towards your health! You are worth it!
