How Worried Should You Be About 5G?
Depending on who you ask for the answer to the safety of 5G Technology, the answer will vary substantially. Obviously, the major cell phone carriers will say its 100% safe. The FDA will say scientific research on EMF exposure shows no adverse biological effects (AKA safe). The International Agency For Research on Cancer, a division of the WHO, does classify EMF as a “possible human carcinogen” and sites various animal research linking EMF exposure to tumor formation.
One thing is for certain – we have more EMF today than ever before. One merely needs to access their available WIFI networks to see often 10+ networks you can choose from. Add to that the fact you more than likely keep your cell phone on or near you for the majority of the day and the constant blanketing of 4G/5G LTE cell networks over your home/ work locations and you can quickly see it’s almost impossible to escape exposure to EMF.
Regardless of what the “authorities” say – emerging evidence (and perhaps common sense) suggests that bombarding your body with multiple electromagnetic frequencies (WIFI, Bluetooth, 4G/5G cellular data, Microwaves, Radio-waves, etc.) can have a negative effect on the human body. Most concerning is the length of time it takes from initial and consistent exposure until the effects begin to manifest. Each person’s response to EMF varies, some people are extremely sensitive (Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity Syndrome) and others have no outward symptoms of EMF exposure until they connect the inability for symptoms to resolve until they reduce/eliminate their EMF exposure.
Known symptoms of EMF exposure include: Disturbances in sleep, headaches, tiredness/ fatigue, changes in memory, lack of concentration, brain fog, dizziness, nausea, numbness/tingling, restlessness/anxiety.
Potential Dangers of Continuous EMF Exposure
One theory held by some is that with each major increase in electromagnetic energy, the world experienced a viral pandemic ensued shortly. China officially launched 5G coverage in November 2019 – the coronavirus pandemic followed shortly thereafter. In 2009 4G was introduced and we had the swine flu (H1N1) epidemic of 2009. 3G was introduced in 2003 and we experienced the SARS outbreak of 2003. Radio transmissions began covering the US in 1917 and the Spanish Flu pandemic occurred shortly thereafter. This could be a coincidence or it could be the effect of ever-increasing electromagnetic blanketing of the world. You will see many people say this is “fake news” – however, the correlation in the years of introduction and the years of the outbreak is worth noting.
Despite numerous published journal articles, many people are still skeptical about EMF and cancer, specifically brain cancer (as most of you hold your cell phones to your ear when you speak or use Bluetooth/wireless headphones). Several papers (published as part of the Hardell group of studies in Sweden) found an increased risk for brain cancer in people who used cell phones, particularly on the same side of the head that the phone was used on. A 2013 study titled “Human disease resulting from exposure to electromagnetic fields” published in Reviews on Environmental Health stated: that excessive exposure to magnetic fields from power lines and other sources of electric current increases the risk of development of some cancers as well as neurodegenerative diseases, and that excessive exposure to RF radiation increases the risk of cancer, male infertility, and neurobehavioral abnormalities”.
To significantly reduce your brains EMF uses wired headphones (instead of Bluetooth/wireless headphones), use an EMF shielded folding “wallet-case” (the phone will be within the closed case when in use) and consider using speakerphone as often as possible, holding the phone as far away from your head when in use.
Several studies have shown that hormones, including thyroid hormones, require voltage-gated calcium channels to be operational. EMF exposure has been shown to disrupt these calcium channels altering the levels of TSH, T3, and T4 (2009 study titled “Alterations in TSH and Thyroid Hormones following Mobile Phone Use” in Oman Medical Journal. Another study found that people whose work included regular computer use had lower TSH, T3 and T4 hormones (2016, “Alterations in TSH and Thyroid Hormones following Mobile Phone Use” Open Access Macedonian Journal of Medical Sciences).
To reduce the effects of EMF on your thyroid hormones, use a grounding pad or EMF computer shield (Harapad) while working at a computer and supplement with Selenium (200mcg) and Iodine (10-12mg).
Several studies show that regular use of cell phones during the day and exposure to WIFI at night can lower melatonin production, thereby altering your sleep cycle/circadian rhythm. Melatonin is often called the “sleep hormone” because high levels initiate sleep. In addition to the EMF given off by electronics, the blue light (ultra-white light) emitted by almost all laptops/cell phones/ tablets and televisions alter your eyes perception of darkness – which is a visual cue for your body to begin its sleep cycle. When stimulated with blue light, your brain will think it is morning – making it harder for you to naturally produce your sleep hormones.
To reduce the effects of EMF on your sleep, turn off your WIFI at night, put all devices into airplane mode or simply turn them off (yes, they do actually turn off), stop using electronics after sundown or use blue light blocking glasses or install blue-blocking software to filter out the blue light.
