It’s a bit of a controversial question, isn’t it? We’re so incredibly attached to our pharmaceuticals and the faceless, cold, profit-driven corporations that feed them to us. Too much? Maybe. Let’s just take a look at the facts.
What Does Science say…
The New England Journal of Medicine. Reduction in the incidence of type 2 diabetes with lifestyle intervention or metformin
Background: Type 2 diabetes affects approximately 8 percent of adults in the United States. Some risk factors — elevated plasma glucose concentrations in the fasting state and after an oral glucose load, overweight, and a sedentary lifestyle — are potentially reversible. We hypothesized that modifying these factors with a lifestyle-intervention program or the administration of metformin (drug) would prevent or delay the development of diabetes.
Methods: We randomly assigned 3,234 non-diabetic persons with elevated fasting and post-load plasma glucose concentrations to placebo, metformin (850 mg twice daily), or a lifestyle modification program with the goals of at least a 7 percent weight loss and at least 150 minutes of physical activity per week. The mean age of the participants was 51 years, and the mean body-mass index was 34.0; 68 percent were women, and 45 percent were members of minority groups.
Results: The average follow-up was 2.8 years. The incidence of diabetes was 11.0, 7.8, and 4.8 cases per 100 person-years in the placebo, metformin, and lifestyle groups, respectively. The lifestyle intervention reduced the incidence by 58 percent and metformin by 31 percent as compared with placebo; the lifestyle intervention was significantly more effective than metformin. To prevent one case of diabetes during a period of three years, 6.9 persons would have to participate in the lifestyle-intervention program, and 13.9 would have to receive metformin.
Conclusions: The lifestyle intervention was more effective than metformin.

How Bryant turned it all around
Bryant was able to stop taking all eighteen medications and is now living a drug-free life. No longer a diabetic, he has lost 120 pounds, and is no longer spending $5,600/month on medications. He says he feels better than ever. He didn’t think he could feel so good! His subluxations/nerve interference are being corrected and he is achieving a level of health never before imagined. His success was accomplished through the Maximized Living lifestyle changes which included chiropractic adjustments, nutritional support, and lifestyle workshops and coaching held regularly at our office.
There are 33 universal Principles upon which chiropractic is based. The early pioneers and forefathers understood the separate and distinct nature of chiropractic as a healing art and thus saw the necessity to define it within the context of a philosophy.
Principle #1: The Major Premise. There is a universal intelligence in all matter, continuously giving to it all its properties and actions, thus maintaining it in existence, and giving this intelligence its expression.
This universal intelligence is God and he created us in his image and likeness. The piece of God that is in all of us is the innate (inborn) wisdom that God used to create us and continues to use to run, coordinate, harmonize and govern all aspects of health and healing from cradle to grave. This intelligence gives our bodies the power to maintain physiological functions and actions on a regular basis. This is the power that maintains us in existence. This is the power that keeps us alive! This is the power that made the body, and this is the power that heals the body. By removing interference to this power, Bryant was able to achieve health restoration. He is now walking in victory.
In short, yes. We can heal ourselves without drugs.
