Caffeine causes energy drain!
Sorry morning coffee drinkers, caffeine shouldn’t be the reason you morning ritual. The need for coffee to start the day, help with afternoon slumps, and go with your deserts is a sign of chronic fatigue. Caffeine is a chemical push of energy – short lived and addictive.
Coffee should be consumed for its antioxidant power, not the energy you get from it.
Energy drinks suck the life out of you – literally! Im sorry to burst your bubble, but you can’t drink your energy back. Imagine pouring energy drinks into a fish tank – the fish die instantly! Why do you feel “energized” when drinking them?
They have amino acids, b-vitamins, caffeine and sugar – which will temporarily lift your spirits but you all know the effects – CRASH! The toxicity due to the concentration of caffeine and sugar is also the reason we don’t ever recommend them.
If you want an energy drink that works – raw fresh pressed vegetable juices (no fruits) or fermented nonalcoholic beverages (Kombucha, Kevita, Tepache etc) as they have natural enzymes, vitamins and no-sugar!
Functional Causes of Fatigue/Chronic Fatigue – The Invisible Disease
As you should be aware by now, hopefully, energy drain is due to an imbalance in your energy internal systems – metabolism, mitochondria, digestive system, detox system and neurological system.
If all were functioning 100% efficiency you would be 100% energized when needed and restful when needed.
Poor sleep hygiene
You may be getting 7-8 hours of sleep, but they are not restorative/healing hours. Many of us are guilty of falling asleep with our smartphones in hand, or with the TV on in the background. Most fail to have a sleep routine and dedicated sleep/wake times daily.
Consider getting a sleep monitor system (Oura Ring, FitBit, Apple Watch) to track how well you sleep is. You want 20-25% of your sleep time to be REM, 13-23% to be deep sleep and 50-60% to be light sleep. Any deviation in these %’s and you won’t be at 100% energy when you wake up!
Inability To Digest/Extract Nutrients
Yes, your food has energy, some more than others. The question is are you extracting the energy out or spending energy to process what you just ate. The number digestive cause of chronic fatigue is digestive enzyme deficiency.

Quick warning about prescription sleeping pills
Nearly all sleeping pills have side effects of fatigue, dizziness and drowsiness. This is because they chemically induce sleep that has little to no REM or deep sleep.
A better alternative is a CBD based sleep capsule. Researchers discovered CBD lowers cortisol, a stress hormone known to be inversely related to melatonin – ie when cortisol is low melatonin is high (which induces and sustains sleep!).
