Homemade Dishwasher Detergent

Ingredients

  • 1 cup washing soda (sodium carbonate)
  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 1 cup citric acid
  • ½ cup kosher salt
  • 20 drops of essential oil (e.g., lemon or lavender) for fragrance (optional)

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, combine the washing soda, baking soda, citric acid, and kosher salt.
  2. Mix thoroughly to ensure even distribution of all ingredients.
  3. If desired, add the essential oil drops and mix well.
  4. Store the mixture in an airtight container to prevent moisture absorption.
  5. Use approximately 1 tablespoon of the mixture per dishwasher load.

This homemade detergent is free from synthetic chemicals and utilizes natural ingredients to effectively clean dishes. For optimal results, consider adding white vinegar as a rinse aid to prevent spotting and enhance shine.
